Week Two: Sweet Harmony
Cankerworm, palmerworm and caterpillars, nasty little pests that devastate, destroy and leave destruction, not only on crops but on lives. However, there is one way to stop their creeping, crawling, chomping and chewing – WORSHIP.
I’m so glad you joined me for part two of my “THE WORM THAT HAS TO TURN” series. Sick of your life being stripped by persistent pests? Then read on, my friend…
We have all faced hardship in our lives one way or another and it’s hard to know how to stop the worms that eat their way through your purpose, destiny and calling. Believe it or not, you’re in a war and an army of worms have been sent by Satan to kill, steal and destroy anything that shines a light and gives you hope on why you were put on this blue planet. But, there is good news! We have been given weapons to fight with by God Himself and one of those weapons is worship.
2 Corinthians 10:4 ‘The weapons of the war we’re fighting are not of this world but are powered by God and effective at tearing down the strongholds erected against His truth.’
It’s easy to sing worship songs in church or in the car when everything is going well. But what about when life sucks? What about when you’ve lost everything and the worms have only left you with sticks and desolation. What then?
This is where true worship becomes a weapon. If you can sing praise songs to God in the midst of pain, heartache and sorrow, you are a true warrior, my friend. This is where the battle gets dirty and you have to stand your ground.
Unfortunately, I have seen far too many Christians stand in worship and wave their plastic swords around hoping to scare the devil into submission. The worms laugh and say to each other, “Look who’s come to fight, Sir Fisher-Price and Worship Barbie.” There is no zeal in their worship, no passion coming up through their bellies to crush the enemy and take back the ground he’s stolen in their lives. Worse still are those Christians who know they have a metal sword but only polish it during worship until its gleaming, then return it to its sheath.
Let me give you some advice. Your wobbly, plastic weapons ain’t doing zip to any of those worms that are destroying your future. Satan will be just Chillin like a villain because he knows the longer he can keep you from knowing the truth about your weaponry, the longer his pesky pestilence can chow down on your life. News flash, we are being invaded. It’s time to fight with God’s armour. Joel 1:4 reminds us, ‘We have been invaded! What the cutting locusts left, the swarming locusts consumed; what the swarming locusts left, the creeping locusts consumed; what the creeping locusts left, the stripping locusts finished off.’
Basically, the worms chomp, chomp, chomp at your life until there is nothing left.
We have been given ALL authority to take down strongholds and shut down Satan’s dodgy two-bit operation like the true worship gangstas that we are. Your worship, your sweet harmony towards heaven lets those worms know that you know who you are and Who’s you are. Worship songs are sharper than a two-edged sword because they are written from God’s Word.
So start worshipping like you really mean what your singing and watch those cankerworms, palmerworms and caterpillars crawl back into their holes by the sound of your warrior-worshipping, sweet harmony!
