#Week 5 – How to turn your ‘meow’ into a ROAR!
Which story is better?
Have you ever seen the movie Life of Pi?
It’s a story of a young man named Pi, who survives a distressing shipwreck, spends months in a lifeboat, has temporal blindness, loses his mind for a while and realizes he has to survive the elements while adrift if he’s to ever see land again.
Oh, and one more thing, he shares the lifeboat he’s been stranded on with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.
After a fantastical adventure, Pi ends up retelling his story to two officials from the Maritime Department.
They are not convinced Pi’s story is completely true and so he retells them a ‘watered down’ version, which the officials think is much more plausible.
The narrator of the story is an elderly man named Francis Adirubasamy, who offers to tell Pi’s story to an author to give him enough faith in God.
Even the author listening to the story is sceptical about the facts and wonders if it’s completely true – especially about the Bengal tiger.
But Francis asks him a question;
“Which story is better, the one with the tiger in or the one without?”
“The one with the tiger, it’s a better story,” notes the author.
To which Francis replies,
“And so it is with God.”
How do you tell your story?
Do you water it down?
Do you tell it with the tiger in it, or without?
Maybe it sounds a little too far – fetched to tell people your Testimony of how God’s grace and love changed you from the inside out?
“IT IS FINISHED”
They were Jesus’ final words just before He took His last breath on Earth.
Principalities – FINISHED!
Powers – FINISHED!
Rulers of the darkness of this age – FINISHED!
Spiritual hosts of wickedness – FINISHED!
Satan’s Kingdom was rocked to the core when Jesus uttered those final words.
So don’t fear mighty BattleCat!
Tell your story WITH the tiger in.
Because the Bengal tiger in the story – IS YOU!
In Ephesians 6:19 it says, “…that I may open my mouth BOLDLY to make known the mystery of the gospel.”
Sounds like a ROAR to me.
You’d better re – read that verse again, just so it sinks into that thick tiger fur of yours.
With God’s Armour prayed on and the knowledge that Jesus has ALREADY DEFEATED Satan you can tell your story without fear.
Which story is better?
The one with the tiger in or the one without?
The one with the tiger, it’s a better story.
…And so it is with God.
