Ladies, You’ve Been Here Long Enough
Ladies,Have you ever had that feeling that you’ve been in a place long enough?
You’ve felt the pull for adventure, a calling or a career change but your still stuck in the same, old place, doing the same, old thing?
You told yourself that the place you’re in now was only a temporary thing, that you had one foot out of the door, but it has ended up too comfortable and you’ve decided to quieten that still, small voice that keeps popping up in your thoughts, of doing a brave thing and making a change.
LADIES, YOU’VE BEEN HERE LONG ENOUGH.
Do you want to know a secret?
I know why you’re still ‘here’ and not ‘there’
FEAR
That’s what is holding you back from the dream that’s burning in your heart.
You’re afraid to step out again and you’ve let complacency creep in.
You’re scared that it will end up like it did the last time you stepped out and tried that brave thing.
So you’ve told yourself that you like the ‘here’ you’re in right now.
Because complacency has become your friend.
Complacency tells you that you won’t have that label attached to your forehead again.
The label that says;
I’M A FAILURE.
I know, because I fight fear and complacency all the time.
I have felt the sting my friend, of thinking I’ve ‘heard from God’ and then totally bombing out.
So we become fearful in stepping out. We snuggle down into our blankie, with our thumb in our mouths and tell God that we’re just going to stay ‘here’ for a while, if that’s okay.
GOD’S TELLING YOU, YOU’VE BEEN HERE LONG ENOUGH.
But God is calling your name again, my friend.
He’s reminding you that the ‘here’ was only meant to be a ‘Drive Thru’ experience.
You’re waiting has made it into a 3 course meal with a candelabra, white table cloth and wine menu.
You’re comfortable.
But there are consequences to your complacency
It’s high time you read Isaiah 32:9-15 my friend, and splashed some cold water on your face.
‘Rise up, you women who are at ease,
Hear my voice;
You complacent daughters,
Give ear to my speech.
In a year and some days
You will be troubled, you complacent women;
For the vintage will fail,
The gathering will not come.
Tremble you women who are at ease;
Be troubled, you complacent ones;
Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare,
And gird sackcloth on your waists.
People shall mourn upon their breasts
For the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.
On the land of my people will come up thorns and briers,
Yes, on all the happy homes in the joyous city;
Because the palaces will be forsaken,
The bustling city will be deserted.
The forts and towers will become lairs forever,
A joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks-
Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high,
And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field is counted as a forest.
God is ringing the bells and He is saying,
‘YOU’VE BEEN HERE LONG ENOUGH!’
So you’ve stepped out and it failed?
The important thing to ask yourself is, “What did I learn from it? Am I a stronger person because of that experience?”
I don’t know about you my friend, but I don’t want the vintage to fail because of my fear.
I don’t want the gathering not to come because of my complacency.
I want the Spirit to be poured down on me from on high to fulfil the destiny God has for me.
BE THAT GIRL.
So put on your ‘brave pants’ and BE THAT GIRL.
BE THAT GIRL who wakes up with a heart full of purpose
BE THAT GIRL who shows up when nobody is looking
BE THAT GIRL who never gives up on the calling God has placed on her life
BE THAT GIRL who stands fearless towards her future
BE THAT GIRL who reaches out her hand and shows kindness and compassion
BE THAT GIRL who leaves her mark and scent of her perfume, long after she’s gone
And…
BE THAT GIRL who kicks complacency in the butt
Because LADIES, YOU’VE BEEN HERE LONG ENOUGH!
