Dead Inside – Helping dry bones rise

If you’ve been checking in to read my weekly blog post’s this year

Firstly, thank you   =)

You’ll see a theme running through them

They’ve all been about rising

Rising above your circumstances

Rising above the craziness of this world

Focusing on who God called you to be

And how God can help you rise

Into all that He has for you

Now that we’ve gotten some truth

And knowledge under our belts

And you’ve absorbed everything I’ve written

In our weekly conversations

Telling all your friends

That the gal who runs this show is

Killing it

Like she’s a word-power jiu-jitsu expert

…You’re welcome  (wink)

We need to start seeing dead people

Okay, I know what you’re thinking

She’s completely lost the plot

No, not like Cole Sear in the movie,  The Sixth Sense

I’m talking about

People who look alive

But they’re dead inside

And you can be a believer or not

(Believe it or not)

It doesn’t matter

Dead disciples are attending Church

On the regular

Bored to death

With the same old, same old

Dry bones needing God to breathe His life into them again

Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:8

“Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously.”

I believe, Jesus is not only asking us to raise the dead

But to help people who are dead inside from

Dead religion

A dead marriage

A dead relationship

Or a dead-end job

Ezekiel 37 talks about how God “set him down in the middle of a valley”

Which was full of dry bones

Where has God “set you down?”

When you look around

Can you see dry bones?

And

Just like He asked Ezekiel

God is asking you

“Son of man, do you think these bones can live?”

He has set you down in a place so you can

Help raise dead people

God not only creates life

He can restore it too

Maybe some of you who are reading this

Are feeling like you’re dead on the inside

Because

Life has thrown you a few curve balls

And you’re just dry bones rattling around

Living day to day

Or even hour by hour

With no hope left

And you feel like you don’t even have the strength

To stand, let alone to rise

I understand

But God is calling you, dear friend

He’s breathing His breath into your dry bones

I’m sure you can identify with Psalm 109:22

‘…You see, I am poor and needy,

and my heart is broken inside me…’

Dead religion

A dead marriage

Dead relationship or a dead-end job

Can do that to you

But God can restore your dry, dead bones

And breathe His life-giving power into them again

‘He reaches into the deep pit to deliver you from death.

He crowns you with unfailing love and compassion like a king.

When your soul is famished and withering,

He fills you with good and beautiful things,

satisfying you as long as you live.

He makes you strong like an eagle,

Restoring your youth.’   Psalm 103:4-5 (The Voice Bible)

So

Rise up

My friend

And let God breathe His life into those dry bones

Because today is your resurrection!
