The Day I Ignored INXS For Eric Bana
Soaked to the skin from the pouring rain, which we had stood in for over an hour, my husband and I broke the news to our son that his favourite Australian V8 Supercar driver was going to be a ‘no show’ and we needed to head back to the car and go home.Walking back through the Pits to the Exit, my eagle – eyed husband spotted Eric Bana, the movie star standing at one of the V8 garages.
“Go get a photo with him,” he said.
Suddenly a wave of, ‘I’m totally freaking out right now’ took a hold of me.
“I can’t just walk up to him and get a photo! Can I?” I feebly questioned.
“Sure you can,” my husband replied while pushing me towards Mr Bana.
I looked at my drenched son. He had watched The Incredible Hulk movie and knew who Eric Bana was. I couldn’t disappoint him and let this opportunity pass by.
So I took a deep breath…
“Excuse me. Would it be possible if my son could get a photo with you?”
“Sure. No worries.”
‘Don’t stuff this up. Don’t stuff this up. Don’t stuff this up,’ kept going through my mind.
To make sure I had a great shot of my boy with Eric Bana, I asked if the ‘other two’ guys he was with could please step aside.
Politely they obliged.

ONE AWESOME PHOTO!
As I turned around to catch one more glimpse of Eric Bana, I noticed he was smiling at the other two guys; it was as if he was sharing a joke with them.
“What’s so funny?” I whispered to my husband.
My husband whispered back.
“two guys that you asked to step out the way of your photo were the Farriss brothers out of the band INXS.”
Opportunity – Missed.
In Joshua Chapter 2 Rahab, the harlot saw an opportunity to save her family from the destruction of the City she lived in and she wasn’t going to miss it.
When the King of Jericho asked her to bring the men to him that had entered into her house. She told him the spies had indeed been to her house, but they had left and she didn’t know where they had gone.
But she did.
They were on her roof, hiding in stalks of flax.
Opportunity was knocking.
And Rahab knew Jericho was getting flattened.
So she waited until it was dark to strike up a deal with the two spies.
“…Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token, and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.” – Joshua 2:12-13.
The two men agreed and told her to bind a scarlet cord to her window to make sure everyone in her family would be saved from death.
Rahab and her family aren’t mentioned again until Joshua Chapter 6.
What??
You’re telling me that Rahab waited 4 Chapters for her family to be saved?
Sound familiar?
You have grasped the opportunity to share your faith and now your still waiting for your family to be saved?
And it’s been…
Four. Long. Chapters.
Galatians 6:9 says, ‘so let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit.’
Did you know that Rahab is mentioned in the Genealogy of Jesus?
She took the opportunity to save her family and it helped a Generation yet to be born.
So don’t you dare give up or quit on your family.
Seize every opportunity to share your faith.
Because God didn’t give up or quit on you.
