Why I Quit Going To Church.

I’m gonna tell you something now that will

Blow.

Your.

Face.

Off.

I decided the other day that I would quit going to Church

That’s right

I’m not kidding

It’s fo’real

WHY I QUIT GOING TO CHURCH

Now before you start getting ‘all up in my grill’

I suddenly had this revelation that we need to stop saying that we are ‘going’ to Church

Period.

How can we ‘GO’ to Church

When WE ARE the Church?

Does a 90-minute service with a few songs, a prayer and a sermon is what Church looks like to you?

If it is

Then that’s sad

=(

Church isn’t a building

Church is God’s people

Ephesians Chapter 2 says;

‘God is building a home. He’s using us all – irrespective of how we got here – in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day – holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.’

(The Message Bible)

And Paul puts it so brilliantly in Philippians Chapter 2

‘If you find any comfort from being in the Anointed, if His love brings you some encouragement, if you experience true companionship with the Spirit, if His tenderness and mercy fill your heart; then brothers and sisters, here is one thing that will complete my joy – come together as one in mind and spirit and purpose, sharing in the same love.’

(The Voice Bible)

These Scriptures are why I quit going to Church

Sure, I’ll still be going to the same place that I always go to on a Sunday for our service

But if our passion this year is to RISE

Then we must quit GOING to Church and BE the Church

The apostles and prophets of old are the foundations

We are the bricks and stones

With Jesus as the cornerstone holding it all together

Everyone coming together as one in mind and spirit and purpose

Because we share the same love

If you experience true companionship with the Spirit

If His tenderness and mercy fill your heart

Then you ARE Church

Wherever you are

Because

God is building His Church

Within  YOU

And He calls it home
