Which way are you looking?
Which way are you looking? Something struck me while I was watching the new Star Wars movie with my family a few weeks ago, (no it wasn’t popcorn hitting my head from the back row.) I wondered why hundreds of complete strangers choose to sit next to each other in a darkened room and be completely drawn into a story plot.
Without giving too much of the plot away, there is a scene in Star Wars where one of the main characters Rey is struggling with her identity. The call to adventure is stirring deep inside of her, but she is held back by a sense of duty to stay on Jakku, the Planet she grew up on.
Have you ever felt like that?
You know God has called you to do something but you’re stuck between what you’ve always known and frightened by the unknown?
To help Rey decide her destiny, Maz Kanata (another character) gives her some advice,
“The belonging that you seek isn’t behind you, it is ahead.”
Great advice. It sort of hits you right between the eyes. You know, the eyes that need to be focused on the great future God has for you and not the eyes looking over your shoulder at what was behind you.
Maybe the belonging you seek is in your future, not your past and God is just waiting for you to take the first step.
What does your first step look like?
May the force be with you,
