We are Warriors – Bringing the feminine heart to battle
As I sat with a group of 16 women in a café
Celebrating our friend’s birthday
I looked around the table
And realised that we are all warriors
Some bore the scars from battles of old
That they had fought in the days past
While others were still in the scuffle
Waiting to claim their victory
Nevertheless
Each woman brought the same thing to the battle
A feminine heart
I know what you’re thinking
A feminine heart would be the last thing you’d bring to the battle
How could a nurturing spirit
Love and kindness
Stop our enemy in his tracks?
How could the tenderness of a mother’s heart
Win a war?
Proverbs 31:35 reminds us that we are, ‘clothed in strength and dignity’
When the enemy hurls intimidating accusations at us
When he tries to disempower and render us incompetent
And
When he whispers that you are, “No one special”
In his mocking tone across the battlefield
Something is birthed inside of you
A strength
Which captures God’s attention
You can feel it coursing through your veins
As you pray for your family
As you pray for your children
As you pray for your friends
As you pray for your work colleagues
You sense God is training and instructing you
On how to win the battles
With a feminine heart
Because the truth is
‘We’re not waging war against enemies of flesh and blood alone. No, this fight is against tyrants, against authorities, against supernatural powers and demon princes that slither in the darkness of this world, and against wicked spiritual armies that lurk about in heavenly places.’ Ephesians 6:12 (The Voice Bible)
Please don’t mistake the kindness and gentleness of a feminine heart
For weakness
Kindness brings a strength that tyrants and demon princes
Know nothing about
Kindness CHOOSES to sacrifice and reach out anyway
Despite the knockdowns, we may face on the battlefield
A feminine heart CHOOSES to respond differently
There will be times when we will need to draw our swords
But sometimes, the fight demands a strength
That only a feminine heart can bring
God breaks open our precious feminine hearts
Which sends a sweet, sweet perfume towards the enemy
The scent of strength, dignity, nurturing and love
Is repugnant to the wicked spiritual army
It comes in a cloud over the battlefield
And penetrates every nook and cranny
Making the enemy slither back to the pit where he came from
He wants you to lose your power
By hollering and screaming at him
While you are on the battlefield
Bloodied and bruised
But instead, you clothe yourself
In strength and dignity
You’re never alone on the battlefield, dear friend
Because
‘the Eternal is my rock.
He trains my hands for war,
gives me the skills I need for battle.
He is my unfailing love and my citadel.
He is my tower of strength and my deliverer.
He is my shield of protection and my shelter.’ (Psalm 144)
You have captured God’s attention, dear feminine heart
We are warriors
And nothing can stop us from rising
