The Waiting Place
The Waiting Place
Feels like a total
Waste. Of. Time.
Wait, wait, wait
That’s all you’ll ever do there
Is wait!
THE WAITING PLACE
One of my favourite books is ‘Oh the places you’ll go!’ by Dr Seuss.
I love it because it goes through all the places
You’ll have to go before you have your mountain top experience
But there’s one part
Which gives great insight into the not – so – great days of heading towards your dream
You can get so confused that you’ll start to race
Down long wiggled roads at a break – necking pace
And grind on for mile across weirdish wild space
Headed, I fear, toward a most useless place
The waiting place
Dr Seuss calls the waiting place
Useless
And while your waiting for your dream to happen, it can feel that way
Every step towards your dream can feel like
Your walking in thick custard with over –sized gumboots on.
So, you sit and you wait…
…and you feel useless
But that’s not what the Bible teaches us
Isaiah 40:31 says: ‘But those who wait upon God get fresh strength, they spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. (The Message Bible)
Waiting on God gives you strength for the journey ahead
Not your strength
His strength
And when your powered up with God’s strength you are going to
Spread your wings
Soar like an eagle
Run and not get tired
Walk and not lag behind
Say what?!?
You mean if I wait on God I get to do all those things?
Fo ’real my friend!
God makes you wait on Him
Because He knows you can’t make it to the finish line without His strength.
He’s got your back!
James 1:4 says, ‘But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.’ (NKJV)
Hear that?
Let patience do its thing and you’ll lack nothing.
To wait is to be patient.
It actually says in the passage before James 1:4, ‘that faith produces patience’
You may be sitting here reading this
Dipping that soggy biscuit back into your freshly – brewed cup of disappointment, thinking
“But I want my dream to happen now, I don’t want to wait!”
I know
I’m totally with you
God seems to have a ‘forever o’ clock’ on His kitchen wall.
It’s a tough gig this dream business.
But through the waiting
He will re -new your energy
God can give you more clarification of where your next step should be
If you go to the waiting place
Because your going to need the strength for when the incline starts to gets steep
As you climb the mountain
Trust me, you’ll start to enjoy waiting on God!
And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
