The Music Makers

“We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams”

Willy Wonka was right

We are the music makers

Who’s lives either play a harmony

Or a song which is out of tune

You may not realise the music you’re playing

But it’s there

And everyone you meet in your day to day life

Is listening for the sound

The sound that reverberates

From you

THE MUSIC MAKERS

As believers in Jesus Christ

We need to be people of influence

The movers and the shakers

Who rule and reign in this life

Using the gifts that God has given us

Which causes people to take notice

We are the music makers

And we are the dreamers of dreams!

Yet many churched – people

Settle for a life which is less than

They don’t know how to walk in the authority

Which Jesus Himself gave them

I’ve heard on many occasions

Believers talking about ‘reaching out’ to the un-saved

But they fear that

If they go into places that attract the very people their trying to help

They will slip back into a ‘sinners’ lifestyle

Jesus hung around sinners

Because He was the music maker

He controlled the atmosphere

Not the sinners

Jesus knew how to operate in His authority

Like Jesus

If we are to be the music makers

Then we must stop settling for a life of low calling

“I press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”

Is what it says in Philippians 3:14

It’s much easier to blend in than to stand out

You will face opposition

Which makes you seek the path of least resistance

But

If we as believers have the high calling of being God’s people who

Have influence and authority

Then we need to start becoming the music makers

And the dreamers of dreams!

“People want to drive the train because they think that it’s the most important job. But the truth is, the real job is laying the track.”  – Ed Catmull (Creativity Inc. book)

We need to be the leaders in this world

Who are laying the track

The music makers

Who dream big dreams

To change the world in which we live

Continually pushing against the flow

Of this world’s system

Apathy and self-preservation

Is the escape route

Which leads to lukewarm Christianity

In Revelation 3 verses 15-16

God warns believers

“I know your works. You are neither cold with apathy nor hot with passion. It would be better if you were one or the other, but you are neither. So because you are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16

Yeah

I know

Scary stuff

But God also repeatedly says in the Bible

“Be strong and courageous”

Never underestimate your power and authority

As a believer

To change the atmosphere around you

Willy Wonka only made chocolate bars

But you, my friend

Can make history
