Terminator Hunter

I’ll be the first to admit that I am looking forward to the new Terminator movie, Dark Fate which is out soon.  The Terminator and Terminator 2 – Judgement Day are two of my favourite movies because the character, Sarah Connor has taught me so much about identity. (Also how to be a butt-kicking, Terminator killing warrior too!). Like Sarah Connor, you’ve been targeted for termination by the enemy and until you realise how important you are, become a warrior and join the resistance, you’ll be running for the rest of your life.

Here are 3 things I learned from Sarah Connor.

  1. REALISE HOW IMPORTANT YOU ARE.

Sarah Connor had to realise how important she was if she was going to fight back against the Terminator that had been sent by Skynet to kill her. It is up to Kyle Reese, (a resistance fighter sent back in time by Sarah Connor’s future son, John Connor) to make sure Sarah is protected. Kyle needs Sarah to trust him, so he reaches out his hand and says to her, “Come with me if you want to live.” He finally convinces Sarah that she is a crucial part of the bigger picture. In one scene Kyle is telling Sarah who she is and why the Terminator wants to kill her.

Kyle – “You’ve been targeted to be terminated.”

Sarah – “Why does it want me? I didn’t do anything!”

Kyle   – “No, but you will.”

Skynet wanted Sarah Connor terminated because she was carrying THE SEED. Satan is like Skynet. He sends in his Terminators to try and pull you out of the game. He knows the seed you carry could be his downfall. It says in Galatians 3:29 …And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise. It could be ‘the seed’ of an idea or ‘the seed’ of a calling that you feel God has told you to pursue. Whatever your seed is, Satan doesn’t want it becoming fruitful in your life.

2. BECOME THE WARRIOR.

In Terminator 2 – Judgement Day, we find Sarah Connor doing a Crossfit workout in a tiny cell in a mental institution. The wholesome-looking 80’s chick that served burgers in a restaurant has gone. Now Sarah is a woman with muscles (and better hair) who’s on a mission to protect her son, John Connor, now 10 years old. Sarah has become aware of the price that was paid by Kyle Reese to protect her. She remembers why he came back from the future to save her,

Kyle – “I came across time for you Sarah. I love you, I always have.”

It says in 1 Corinthians 6:20…For you were brought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit. Jesus knew a price had to be met, and only He could meet it. The one thing that held Him on that cross was His love for you.

3. JOIN THE RESISTANCE.

With the help of her son, John and a ‘friendly’ Terminator, Sarah manages to escape the mental institution. She takes them to a place where she has stored hundreds of weapons to help fight the Terminators. Sarah knows that a Terminator is out there who can’t be reasoned with, it can’t feel any pain, it doesn’t pity or fear, or feel remorse. John Connor knows his mum has prepared for a war against the machines.

It says in 1 Peter 5:8…Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. We need to prepare ourselves if we are going to help future generations know who God is. If you are a believer then you have joined the resistance. Satan has you targeted for termination. But like Kyle Reese, Jesus wants you to trust him and He is reaching out His hand to you saying, “Come with me if you want to live.”

Well Sarah Connor, what are you waiting for?

Thanks Wendy for writing this article. A well needed reminder that we are in a battle.

Thanks, Josephine. We don’t need to focus on our ‘terminaotrs’ but as you say, it’s good to keep in mind that we are indeed in a battle. xo

No longer have I got the strength or body of Sarah Connor, but I can join the resistance.
