Have you ever had the Pie Crust Promise.
“I’ll pop around your house and we’ll have a coffee together – promise.” Were the last words I heard them say as I pushed my shopping trolley towards the checkout.
I smiled and waved
and waited…
That was 7 months ago.
The coffee is now cold and the cake has gone stale, along with a small part of me that says, “I don’t value you.”
Mary Poppins once said,
“Pie crust promises are easily made and easily broken.”
How true.
When you encounter these types of people an unspoken label rests next to their name in your mind,
‘Pie crust promise keeper’
there is only one who keeps His promises and that’s God.
Over the years I have learnt and clung onto the truth that there is only one who keeps His promises and that’s God.
‘For the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.’ 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV)
Yes and Amen.
That’s God’s promises.
And when God says something it happens.
“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 (NIV)
That means when God speaks a promise over you, it can’t go back to God until it
has been accomplished and achieved what He said it would do.
Your part in the deal is to BELIEVE the promise that He’s given you.
Even if it takes years!
And that’s the tricky part because when you’ve been given a promise, Satan will send his full arsenal of weaponry at you to make sure it never happens.
FYI Satan
God has the last say.
Whenever I see a rainbow I’m reminded again that the promise is coming and to keep putting one foot in front of the other because,
“You didn’t come this far to only come this far.” – Quote
Your journey has had its twists and turns.
You’re now realising that those bruises and scars were helping you to become a stronger person.
A person that could live out the promise to its fullest.
If you give up now, all of those trails would be a waste.
God uses everything we learn on the journey, good and bad because
God values you and He loves you and He doesn’t want you lacking anything in that promise.
So you have to stay focused on the promise He’s given you, whatever it is.
Cling to it because not everyone will understand your journey and that’s okay because it isn’t their promise.
It’s yours.
