Colour Your World. (Stop asking permission to be yourself.)
I don’t know about you but I sometimes feel like I’m a little too much for some people.
They don’t actually tell you to your face.
But you can sense their disapproval when you’re around them. You feel that you just need to bring yourself down a couple of notches.
Just so they feel more comfortable around you.
You feel you need to apologise to them for existing. For actually having the audacity of taking up precious oxygen from this Planet!
You underestimate your impact on people and put away your paint and brushes because they don’t like the colours you bring.
And so you shrink back.
And in doing so, you have asked for their permission if you could be yourself.
Of course, asking for their permission to be yourself is in no way, shape or form any benefit to you my friend, heavens no.
Colour your world.
A friend recently said to me, “Wendy, you are the colour in our grey little world.”
It warmed me through to the core and every time I think about it, I smile.
People who are your true friends love you for who you are and they encourage you to be yourself.
You don’t have to ask for their permission to be yourself when you’re around them, they just love you for who you are.
Because relationship is the key to all your true friendships.
And it’s the same with God.
He created you and formed your inward parts, (Psalm 139:13) God knows you inside out and He still loves you unconditionally.
He doesn’t want performing circus animals, trying to fit themselves into a ‘One size fits all’ mould.
Religion is an outfit that screams common sense.

God much prefers ‘wild’ over ‘zoo’
He much prefers relationship over religion.
Because you’ll never be too little or too much for Him.
God wants to empower you, not control you.
He wants you to be the colour in somebody else’s grey little world.
But it all sounds too risky being myself.
God wants you to live free from the constraints of someone else’s opinion of you.
Deep Faith is having the freedom to be authentically you!
I’m slowly learning to not shrink back around ‘grey little people.’
God is revealing to me that people need to ‘see’ every colour that I paint into their worlds.
So the next time you feel the need to shrink back and not be yourself.
Just trust that God’s love is unconditional.
Believe in your inner Beyoncé
And say,
“Out the way world, I’ve got my sassy pants on today!”
…Like a boss.
