Christian gals don’t do it on their knees.

Good. Now I have your attention. Christian gals don’t do it on their knees. FYI: We are doing it all the time. And people don’t even know it!

Christian gals who are stay at home mum’s, cleaners, shop assistants or corporate managers that have the corner office, chances are they’ve been doing it. And it’s not on their knees. Honest to God.

WHY CHRISTIAN GALS DON’T DO IT ON THEIR KNEES.

A cute habit of praying a few lines before bedtime as you tuck your teddy bear in and kiss it goodnight won’t do a darn thing in a Spiritual battle.

People have this romantic notion in their head that their prayer life should resemble perfect prose that could bring an angel to tears. Their knees to the floor for hour upon crippling hour that would make Mother Teressa look bad.

Seriously…

I mean, sure the nice, sickly sweet prayers that tickle the ears of every person who enjoys listening to that garbage may be plausible for some Christians. But it’s the gut-wrenching, tear-stained, I’m-not-giving-up-until-God-answers-me prayers that really move God and more importantly stop Satan in his tracks.

Being nice and kind in your prayers about saving your family and friends doesn’t stop an enemy who’s whole game plan is to steal, kill and destroy you until you’re begging for mercy.

If Satan can get you to focus on making sure your prayers just “sound good” around other people you’ll never utter one syllable. He knows your prayers can pack a punch that could knock Mike Tyson into the beginning of next week.

SO, WHY DON’T CHRISTIAN GALS DO IT ON THEIR KNEES?

Getting down on your knees in aisle 2 when you’re in the supermarket looks far weirder than if you’re having a conversation with God in your head as you reach for the mixed salad leaves.

Prayer is like having an ongoing conversation with God throughout your day.

It’s a connection between you and Heaven. Prayer is an open conversation which doesn’t need to be on your knees.

Imagine having an endless coffee date with your bestie? That’s what it’s like praying to God all day long. Okay, maybe that’s a bad analogy. Firstly, having an endless coffee date would feel like hell. And secondly, all that coffee would make us act like the squirrel out of the Over the Hedge movie.

 #notgood.

God is speaking constantly. You just need to listen in and then talk back to Him. Prayer isn’t about you prattling on like an old washer woman, never drawing breath because you’ve learnt the art of breathing through your skin.

Ever encountered people who believe they are actually having a conversation with you, but really their doing all the talking and you’re just standing there dumb struck, waiting patiently for them to pause, or at least draw breath at some point. (If ever.) God needs to respond to your requests. That’s called a conversation. That’s called a good prayer life.

Praying for inside transformation will show outwardly in our lives which makes other people notice there’s something different about you. And talking to God will get you the inside info on how to defeat Satan. God will give you the scoop on what works and what doesn’t.

Pray all the time and don’t be afraid to ask God for some crazy, outrageous things. Go for it!

Driving, being at the office, picking the kids up from school, shopping at the supermarket. Those prayers while you’re doing all those things are a sweet smelling aroma to God, regardless whether you’re on your knees or not.

Some Christians may deem it “unspiritual” to not do it on your knees. But, let me pose the question to you. “Who are you trying to impress?” Hopefully, not God. He can see right through your Christian veneer like a stained glass window facing east.

Murmuring and mumbling through another shallow prayer may satisfy the average Christian punter, but I sure as heck don’t want to waste my breath. And God doesn’t want you waste it either.

I’m here to set the record straight. Christian gals don’t do it on their knees.

And it’s not about bribing, forcing or coercing God into doing what you want Him to do. It’s believing that you are who God says you are. Ask, and it shall be given to you. Knock and the door will be opened. Prayer is an invitation  for the Holy Spirit to collaborate in our day to day lives. To enter into an ongoing conversation which will transform you from the inside out.

C’mon gals, you know when you haven’t prayed. You know that icky feeling when you’ve ignored God all day and wonder why your day didn’t go right.

It’s time to lace up those spiritual boots and become sassy and savvy in your prayer life.

Christian gals don’t do it on their knees. We pray whenever and wherever we find ourselves.

Gals, you’re awesome. Keep that stuff up.
