A Grateful Heart

I sat watching the sunrise over the water with a grateful heart

The worries of the last year slowly melting away

As I trickled the grains of sand through my fingers

My strength felt renewed

And my spirit was refreshed

Something draws me to the beach

I don’t know why

Maybe its the sound of the waves slowly lapping up onto the sand

Like a calming rhythm

That soothes me

As I listen to the waves

My grateful heart is ready to begin again

The beach restores my soul

And gives me the space to recover

I don’t want this moment to end

My grateful heart feels abundantly blessed

Here is the beach I was sitting on

I took this photo while in Cairns, just last week

Which is located in Northern Queensland,  Australia

At sunrise

And guess what?

My husband’s parents paid for every one!

No

I’m not kidding

Un – believe – able…

We were absolutely

Bedazzled

Our holiday

#paidinfull

I do have the best inlaws  –  EVER!

As we looked out over our balcony of our 5 star accommodation

Which overlooked this beautiful beach,  (by the way)

My soul sang

And as we watched the moon rise above the horizon one evening

Its reflection shimmering and shining like a thousand diamonds over the ocean

I thanked God

Over and over again

For His blessing

As I sat watching His creation

In its full splendour

With a grateful heart

I stood in awe and read this;

Psalm 104:1-4

‘Call Him good, my soul, and praise the Eternal.

I am here to declare my affection for You,

Eternal One,

My God.

You are indeed great –

You who are wrapped in glory and dressed in greatness.

For covering, You choose light- Your clothes,

Sunset and moonrise.

For a tent, You stretch out the heavens;

For Your roof, You pitch the sky.

Your upper chamber is built on beams

That lie in the waters overhead,

And the clouds, Your chariot;

You are held aloft by the wind.

You make Your messengers like the winds;

The breeze whispers Your words,

Your servants are like the fire and flame.’

How can people deny God’s very existence?

When there is so much of His beautiful creation that surrounds us?

The Butterfly Sanctuary we visited

God’s creation was fluttering all around us

Or the Great Barrier Reef we snorkelled in

Seeing beautiful fish and a turtle swimming around us

Such creativity in the colours of those fish!

So

A grateful heart

Is what I hold

Because our holiday

Was

Paid in full

We didn’t do anything to deserve it

It happened because we are family

And we are greatly loved

And that’s what the God of all creation did for you, my friend

He sent His Son

To die in your place

Your sins

Are covered

Jesus

Paid in full

Because He wants you to become part of His family

He loves you more than you know

And when you discover that Truth

Your soul will be renewed

Your spirit will will be refreshed

And like me,  you will hold a grateful heart
